This painting is the fourth in my HDB collection. This time, I was inspired by an HDB block in Chinatown which I bumped into during a leisurely walk. I loved the orange geometric pattern, but even more all the little details that make the building feel alive - plants outside the apartments, laundry, lanterns, open windows and little decorations.

These everyday details are exactly what I enjoy painting. From a distance, HDB blocks can look repetitive, but when you look closer, every home is different and has its own little story to tell.
